Fort Nisqually Site Celebration

On August 22, the DuPont Historical Society and Museum will be hosting their annual Fort Nisqually Site Celebration. The event is an afternoon picnic (which you bring) or partake in a salmon bake, complements of the Nisqually Tribe.

Cost for the salmon bake is $12 per adult, $6 per kid. However, entrance into the event is FREE. Once there you will experience what life was like back in 1843. The Ezra Meeker 1906 Oregon Trail Wagon will be on display as well as a Nisqually Tribal Canoe, native dancers, weavers, old-tyme fiddle music, an antique gun display, and even a fossil dig for the kids.

While you’re there, imagine what it was like having Sequalitchew Creek running full past the 1843 Fort site. Preserving both our natural and man-made history is something we all have in common, and its an issue we need to find some common ground on.
